Spent all weekend installing (real, 3/4") hardwood flooring in my house, finished the hallway (and linen closet, and all the related difficult cuts/pieces), the office (wherefrom I type this), and about half of the living room.
Office
Should be able to work on it a little during the week and finish up by the end of next weekend (need to finish the living room, do the dining room, and two closets). I hope. I realized as I opened the second box of nails (1,000ct) this morning that I have swung the hammer on the flooring nailer at least 1,000 times in the prior 24 hours. My back hurts.

I did that last summer. Living room and bedroom. Well worth the effort to install real wood.

Looking good!
I hope you rented a pneumatic assisted gun for the job.

I did it in my prior house with 3/4” hickory. When we moved, I paid to have this house done. Family, timeline, blending with existing wood, all that jazz. I did the stairs in the old house too. Did you use knee pads? I didn’t and was sore for days.
Looks great! Congrats on a job well done.

Looks good, what kind of trim are you going with? I was thinking about replacing some of mine with “flat stock”.

Friday 7pm -> 11pm
Saturday 10am -> 12:30am
Sunday 9am -> 6pm
A lot of the time was getting started and the hallway, which has 4 door jambs and a little closet which makes for some time consuming work.

Thanks! For trim I’m just going to put in basic pine ranch casing, stained to match doors/other trim. It’ll match the rest of the house’s trim and is what was there (albeit destroyed from 30+ years of abuse) before I pulled it up alongside the carpet prior to painting.
I do like the look of flat stock, but it really needs to match the rest of the trim (i.e. all the windows, door casings, etc need to be the same flat) to not seem out of place.

Thank you, I was worried I’d be
board
with the work but I was able to get in the
groove
and
hammer
it out.

Thank you. If I had a life much going on it would be hard to get the time to do it as well as the time of “the house is torn apart” - fortunately being a single guy living alone, I can take the house apart at my leisure.
No knee pads, or any other sort of PPE, really. Don’t tell OSHA.

At work I often go through a box of staples in my hammer tacker in a day.
There are approximately 5000 staples per box.
I feel your pain.

The slap stapler (as we called it) was one of my favorite tools back when I worked construction, but I wouldn’t want to run through a box in a day!
